A: Passion and enthusiasm are always required.
I was in marching band for 7 years (alto sax) and only learned a little of how football works. But screaming, dancing, and cheering on the field and in the stands was what really helped me "show up."
A: Pessimism keeps you positive.
It's easy to appreciate life if you watch enough horror/thriller movies showing you how much worse everything could be. You could get Final Destination-ed, for example.
Here are some recommendations, not limited to horror.
A: Stories are better when you have to work for it.
Videogames and ARGs are my favorite storytelling mediums because you're in the driver's seat. Even if the ending is decided, you are the one who has to make it possible.
