All Elite Wrestling is known for crazy stunts, stupid (but fun) gimmicks, satisfying violence, and all around great storytelling.

 

So of course they'd kidnap the cousin of WWE's CEO just to #StickItToMcMahon.

STICK IT TO MCMAHON

Just one, big, multi-part extension. We use a kidnapping to destroy our direct competitor WWE's ratings, since WWE CEO Vince McMahon is obsessed with TV ratings to the point of damaging wrestling culture.

STEP 1: KIDNAP A MCMAHON

We kidnap (read: pay off) one of McMahon's relatives to stoke interest in an unexpected inter-company storyline. AEW buys every out-of-home placement the company can find in Stamford, CT, centering around WWE HQ. Hopefully we can get a board right across from McMahon's office window.

STEP 2: #STICKITTOMCMAHON

Wrestling fans pledge their loyalty by destroying WWE merch or tickets in the most extreme way possible, then tweeting about it with #StickItToMcMahon to win a free ticket to a special upcoming AEW event.

STEP 3: THE NEW ERA

AEW ends the kidnapping with a new special event called The New Era, which airs simultaneously as WWE's Wrestlemania 39 (2023) to steal their ratings. The New Era will streamed on TBS and the AEW website for free to encourage mass viewership, and features special segments of our kidnapped McMahon.
